Name: Debbie Sterling
Life: February 26, 1983 - Present
Occupation: CEO of GoldieBlox
Super Power: Gender Gap Eliminator
As a Mechanical Engineering/Product Design student at Stanford, Debbie Sterling was bothered by how few women there were in her program. She then made it her mission in life to tackle the gender gap in science, technology, engineering and math and to find a way to introduce girls to the joy of engineering at a young age.
Obsessed with the notion of “disrupting the pink aisle”, Debbie founded GoldieBlox, a toy company out to inspire the next generation of female engineers. By tapping into girls' strong verbal skills, their story and construction set bolsters confidence in spatial skills while giving young inventors the tools they need to build and create amazing things. Named one of the World's Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company and Educational Toy of the Year by the Toy Industry Association, Sterling and GoldieBlox are clearing the path for millions of future female engineers.
